Fela Sowande note:
In my commentary, I described Fela as a British bandleader. As Alan Ashton pointed out, he was actually a Nigerian who took residence in England for many years, forming a jazz combo, mainly of Caribbean musicians. So while his band was formed in England, it was misleading of me to describe him as a British bandleader. My apologies for the confusing commentary.

  1. Twice yearly of an electronics show would be good. It adds a nice touch of variety. Thank you Steve.

  2. Well, gentlemen, the consensus appears to be in favour of two electronic shows per year, based on about 8 votes! Hardly a representative sample, in the language of the pollsters, but at least an indication of listeners’ views. Any more ‘votes’ out there?

  3. Steve,
Of course, there ought to be at least two electronic shows a year.

Or, have you considered the idea of including an Electronics Corner and/or a Pipe (or electronic) Organ Plus Corner which would feature one track of that type of music per show?

Did you not once mention your liking of Latin American music? Are you aware of the Morquecho name, either Pedro or Alfonso, both of whom performed in posh night clubs often using Novachords with their Latin bands? Just a thought…

A huge thank you for bringing the rarely heard Novachord into the limelight.

  4. Stan, Thanks for your feedback. I’m not keen on an ‘Electronics Corner’ but I’ll certainly be producing two such shows per year. Morquecho? That’s a new name to me… I’ve just searched YouTube and found several of Alfonso’s recordings. Good stuff!
